I started the year with the Strada Easel Challenge. I wasn’t sure I would be able to keep up with it but decided to give it a go anyways.
What an experience it was. I struggled a lot since day one.
The pressure to post all my efforts to Instagram for all to see, including the failed ones, felt daunting. I considered quitting several times. In the end, I am happy I did it. The community on Instagram is amazing and supportive. Most importantly for me, the challenge helped me overcome my irrational fear of painting from life. I don’t say I won’t be painting from photos anymore as it is most practical in some cases, but I will be painting from life any chance I get from now on.
I couldn’t wait for the challenge to be over while I was doing it. Now, I think I will be doing the upcoming September Challenge as it will be interesting to measure my progress.
If you’re interested, some of the works are available in my Shop.
